This place is located near the most northern tip of the Lofoten. This fish camp also serves the guests of the Andenes camp which is 12 kilometres north of this place. It is very strategic because when the weather conditions are good you go left to the open sea and towards the countless top spots such as Senholmleia, Svebaan, Skallen, Fjellbakken and so on. And the better spots are only a few minutes sailing away.
Should the weather be less favourable then you can sail to the right and fish in the shelter of the island of Andoya. And because it is an island the water just flows around it and on this side of the island there are also perfect fishing spots.
Read here the story of John Smit about his experiences at this location in the "Beet" magazine.
The climate here is relatively mild due to the Gulf Stream and these waters are packed with fish like wolffish, halibut, cod, coalfish, haddock, redfish and so on. The potential at this location is enormous.
Check out the video report of a week of fishing in Andenes / Skarstein with John Smit
Skarstein is located in a small valley 4 minutes from its harbour. For guests without their own car this is not a problem because you will be picked up and brought back to the location free of charge between 7 and 21 hours by the camp's own bus. The accommodation is surrounded by forests and there is a sauna and a smoker to enjoy your stay and the beautiful surroundings. Puffins, whales, seals, seagulls and so on can all be found here at sea because of the rich feeding grounds. You also have a great chance to encounter migrating whales and orcas. They also come here because of the large amounts of bait and fish.
