We have been organising our annual halibut festival for more than 10 years. And in all those years we have used different locations such as Torsvag and Skjervoy. And for this edition we are back at the location where we once started, namely Havoysund. The location where it all started!
This is an absolute top location in our portfolio of North Norwegian locations. Havøysund is located north east of Soroya at 71º North latitude and close to the North Cape. The name Havoysund has proven itself over the years as one of the top spots to catch nice numbers and sizes of halibut. But apart from halibut, serious sizes of cod, redfish, coalfish, plaice and tusk are also caught here. This is definitely a place where you can improve your PB for all these species. We have been fishing here ourselves for many years and know the location and associated fishing spots really well.
In less favourable weather, this location offers the possibility of sheltered fishing which means that chances of fishing days being lost is not that high. Apart from the location itself, the nature here is also very impressive. Rock formations, flora and fauna are untouched and overwhelming here. In recent years, this location has developed into a top-notch spot where halibut are caught regularly and in a targeted manner. This is an absolute top spot and so early booking is recommended.
The trip takes place from Thursday 4 tm 11 September 2025 and consists of:
Minimum 5 complete boats / homes maximum 7 with maximum 27 participants. The cost of this trip is 1295,- per person excluding flights.
This is what our previous halibut festival in 2024 in Havoysund looked like.
The fishing locally is top-notch and several halibut of 180 centimetres and more are caught in Havoysund every year. Not only is the number of hotspots particularly high, but the diversity of spots is also good. There is a channel near the harbour where it is 5 to 8 metres deep and where you can target large plaice and smaller halibut. This is done on sight since the water here is so clear.
And how about the various spots around the islands Masoya, Hjelmsoya, Ingoya and Rolfsoya. Piece by piece, there are dozens of top spots here where you can go and where we have welcomed many fish on board over the past 15 years.
