This excellent spot is located directly at the famous Saltstraumen. The world's largest and hardest flowing tidal stream. Practically every angler has this location on his or her bucket list and we offer you the opportunity to catch your dream fish here. The Saltstraumen provides an immense tidal current which makes this location under water a true feast for the hunters present. They hang in the stream and quietly wait for a suitable meal to pass by and then strike mercilessly. Fish are always gathering here. Cod, coalfish, wolffish and halibut are the main predators in this stream. But also think of redfish, haddock, sea trout and other species. You'll find it all here.

From the fishing point of view, this region offers very good conditions for successful fishing. The varied natural bottom structure is also preserved under water and thus offers top spots for fishing. Another important fact is that this location is very sheltered in the fjord. So even in bad weather you can almost always fish here.

In addition to the Saltstraumen itself, there are various spots such as Oddgrunnen, Kjerkgrunnen, Gronholmen and the large number of small islands that are located directly off the coast and can be reached in just 30 minutes by boat. Immediately next to the islands are immeasurable depths of up to 500 meters at just a few hundred meters difference. The structural differences around this location are extreme and larger than at the average location. That is why there is also a lush flora and fauna living here under water. The food supply is immense and the currents bring new food every day and therefore also new predators.

Fishing in the Straumen suggests that you have to fish very heavily, but that is not the case. Ordinary shads that we otherwise use, such as the Cutbait, Wide Eye or Crazy Daisy up to about 400 grams are also perfect here. As the boat floats on the current, the bait is never far away as it goes with the same current. So you basically just fish close to the boat. In case you hook a fish, getting it out the water is extra heavy because of the current which the fish will certainly use. That makes the drill so much more nice. Beware of fishing in the extreme currents of the Straumen. You can best fish the Straumen itself at the last hour towards the slow currents close to dead tide and just after that.

In addition to fishing from the boat, there is also a lot of fishing from the shore during the winter period. Large coalfish, halibut and cod are caught. This is one of the few places in Norway where you can catch halibut with your beach rod. So feel free to take that heavy beach rod with you as well as a couple of runningbooms or zip gliders. Fishing from the shore really gives another dimension and is a lot of fun. For lovers of shore fishing it is handy to know that the world record halibut from the shore has been caught here and is currently at 96 kilos!
