This is a unique fishing trip combining modern fishing boats and comfortable catamarans. With this concept, you have access to the good and protected fishing areas, new spots and that without losing time sailing to the locations. Our local partner in Madagascar is THE specialist in nomadic extreme fishing expeditions in Madagascar and all your senses are going to be stimulated on this fishing trip. Stunning nature, overwhelming nights with too many stars, big, beautiful, small, cool and many more fish. And how about dolphins, whales, turtles, beautiful pearly white beaches.

The boats have double hulls, making them particularly stable and safe, providing pleasant overnight stays even in moderate winds. At the end of the day, sheltered anchorages are chosen such as sheltered bays, behind islands or sometimes in a controlled drift as is the case in the western zone and offshore on the immense Leven bank. The boats are equipped with both sails and engines, VHF radio, GPS sounder card reader, first aid kit, life jackets and a nautical appendix.

Thanks to a satellite phone, the crew can always make contact if needed. The catamaran's staff consists of the captain, chef and assistant. They are at your disposal to provide you with optimal service in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Our partner offers several original fishing trips in a special fishing area, one of the most famous in the world, tailor-made for lovers of (among other things...) popping and jigging: the fantastic north-west of Madagascar, departing from Nosy Bé!

There are two different programmes:
  1. the northwest tip of Madagascar, on the big western banks off Nosy Bé ( Leven Bank)
  2. the south between Radama and Majunga

Fishing on the northwest tip of Madagascar takes place north of Nosy Bé. From the famous Cape Saint Sébastien to the legendary Cape d'Ambre and up to Courrier Bay and the always interesting Intermediate Bank.

The programme to explore southern Madagascar takes place between the Radama Archipelago to the gates of Majunga and through Narinda Bay. Here we find the large offshore banks west of Nosy Bé with the immense Leven bank and its outer edge where a new world of deep-sea and pelagic fishing is going to be experienced.

In both programmes, you get the chance to catch the mythical ignobilis trevally or ‘GT’, dogtooth tuna (dogtooth tuna), amberjack, barracuda, kingfish, groupers (including very large ones) and snappers. And of course the pelagic species like yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi, sailfish, wahoo and even black marlin that you may encounter on this fishing trip. The final decision on which route to sail depends on the weather forecast for that week. But we expect it to be the Northern route.

Two different catamarans are available for this nomadic fishing trip.

The large version for max 8 guests of 46 feet and 4 double bedrooms
the smaller version for max 4 guests from 40 feet and 4 single bedrooms

In the catamarans you can sleep comfortably with single or double bed depending on the layout, bathrooms with integrated toilet and shower and relaxation area, in the living area with sofas or on the deck (sun deck) to enjoy the outdoors, relax in the sun, observe Madagascar's impressive stars at night or prepare your fishing gear and a dining area where you can have aperitifs and meals on board the catamarans.

All cabins are ventilated with portholes or additional fans and it is also possible to rent a ‘luxury’ and extra spacious catamaran, equipped with air conditioners in the cabins. On board, you will of course have access to electricity and fresh water for your sanitary needs. Depending on the catamaran, you can also enjoy a television for watching your video or photo files, and a sound system for some background music.

The boats are equipped with a fridge and freezer that provide cold drinks and food storage every day. The chef also has a gas cooker and microwave at his disposal to prepare delicious meals for you.

Breakfasts, aperitifs and dinners are served on the catamaran, while lunches are served on the fishing boats in the form of complete packed lunches on board. As for drinks, bottled water is complimentary and included in the full board of this formula. All other drinks such as soft drinks, beers, wines, spirits, espresso coffee, etc. are available at extra cost and can be paid for on site at the end of your stay.

The boats have a double hull, making them particularly stable and safe and providing pleasant overnight stays even in moderate winds.

The quality of the fishing boats is always one of the most important elements for the success of your exotic fishing trip. There are three (almost) identical fishing boats here and only the colour of the engines differs.

They have an ‘open’ V-hull with a centre console and are made of fibreglass, which makes these boats exceptionally robust. They are 10.25 metres long and 2.60 metres wide. There are two very clear spaces at the front and back, allowing two guests to poop, jig or troll on each side of the boat with plenty of space.

The foredeck has a small platform with railing allowing you to stand high and cast while the rest of the platform is completely free, which is also true of the spacious aft deck. In total, 4 anglers (2 fore and 2 aft) can easily pop and up to max 5 anglers can jig.

The gangways are perfect in terms of height and allow you to fish comfortably without hitting your knees or interfering when fishing or drill all around the boat. The boats are each powered by two Suzuki 250 APX engines with a cruising speed of 28 knots and a top speed of 45 knots. So no time is lost in cruising, which ultimately gives you more fishing time! Thanks to the combination of design, mass of the boat and speed combined with the comfortable foam seats, these boats offer you unmatched comfort and safety while cruising, even in rough seas.

Inside, the cabin has a washroom with a toilet, sink and even a shower, as the boats are equipped with fresh water tanks. In addition, the boats each have a total of 32 rod holders: 12 vertical on either side of the centre console, 12 angled rod holders including six on the T-top and eight horizontal (for jigging rods). The angled rod holders on the T-top are placed forward so they do not to interfere with casting on the rear deck.

Several storage areas are also available for your lures and small materials, as well as dedicated cool boxes in storage areas under the floor. The coolers store packed lunches and drinks on board, and they come with ice and cooling plates and ensure your drinks stay cold all day. All in all, these are the perfect fishing machines that ensure high quality and safety.

It is best to make the northwest trip from October to June, as July to September is usually difficult due to weather. The southern trip can be made all year round.

There are two climate periods in the Nosy Be region:

  • The ‘dry’ season that runs from May to October: temperatures are between 25°C and 29°C, it rarely rains, the sky is almost always clear and sunny. There can be some wind between June and September.
  • The ‘wet’ season that runs from November to April: temperatures range from 28°C to 32°C (but often around 26°C with a cloud cover) with higher humidity in the air due to the rains, which for the most part only show themselves at night, in the form of stormy rises in the early evening. The rains do not last more than 2 or 3 hours and rarely during the day.

Most species of fish are present and active, especially for surface fish (‘popping’).
